Emergency Installation Triage is the process of determining or selection of patients who are prioritized to get treatment in the hospital Emergency Room.
This determination process is carried out to get the order of treatment according to the level of emergency patients, such as conditions of minor injuries, serious injuries that can be life threatening in a matter of minutes and hours, or have died.
Type of Emergency Installation Triage
In the Emergency Installation Installation triage system, there are 4 color categories. The four color categories have their respective meanings that are tailored to the patient's condition, namely:
1. The red category
Patients in the red category are first priority patients (resuscitation areas) who need immediate help. Criteria for patients who fall into this category are experiencing a critical condition that requires immediate medical attention.
2. Yellow category
Patients in the yellow category are the second priority (area of action) that also requires immediate help. However, patients in this category are not in critical condition.
3. Green category
This category is included in the third priority (observation area). Patients in this category generally experience minor injuries and are usually still able to walk or seek help themselves.
4. Black category
The black category is only for patients who cannot be helped anymore or who have died.
Triage Procedure for Emergency Patients
The triage procedure starts when the patient arrives at the Emergency Department. The doctor will immediately conduct a brief and quick examination to determine the patient's condition.
This quick and quick examination includes an examination of general conditions, vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, breathing), medical needs, and the possibility of survival. After conducting the examination, the doctor will determine the appropriate triage color category for the patient's condition.
If in the red category, patients will be immediately given medical treatment in the resuscitation room, and if they require further medical treatment, the patient will be moved to the operating room or referred to another hospital.
If it is in the yellow category, patients can be moved to the observation room. Patients in this category will be treated after the red category patients are finished.
Whereas patients with the green category can be moved to outpatient care, and if conditions allow patients can be allowed to go home.
For patients who have died, namely the black category, can be directly transferred to the mortuary.
This triage status will be reassessed regularly, because the patient's condition can change at any time. If the patient's condition changes, the doctor will also immediately do a triage again (retriase). For example, patients in the yellow category can move to the red category when their condition gets worse.
